“Chinese Language Education in Egypt: Economic Impacts of Language and Cultural Programs”

This article delves into the emerging field of study called “Economics of Language” in Egypt within the context of Chinese language education in Egypt, using language both as a metaphor for cultural diversity and as a tool leading to economic growth through Chinese investments. It examines the economic impact of Language and Cultural Programs in Egypt. It also discusses the evolving landscape of foreign language teaching culture, which has shifted away from British cultural dominance towards a more diverse representation of linguistic and cultural representations. Through case studies of Chinese language departments like Ain Shams and Alexandria University, particularly the new Chinese curriculum for Egyptian public schools, the article examines the processes through which the Chinese language integrates the education system in Egypt as a direct impact of China's investments in Egypt, which creates a market need in terms of Chinese speakers. Additionally, this case study seeks to demonstrate the role of Language and cultural programs in reshaping the economy and culture of contemporary Egyptian culture. Looking ahead, the article considers the potential future developments in the Egyptian economy, particularly in light of China's efforts to establish itself as an economic and cultural leader in the region. A case study design will be used to collect data through interviews and focus groups to identify recurring themes, attitudes, and perceptions related to the economic impact of Mandarin education in Egypt.
