“African Silk Road: China–Egypt Relations”
Book in progress
This book, in progress, examines Chinese investment megaprojects (in infrastructure, new-city building, and mining/extraction) in terms of how Chinese communities, movements, and policy actors debate their impact, particularly in four dimensions: (1) Egyptian-Chinese debt and economic relations, (2) cultural and racial/ethnic relations between Chinese communities, Chinese business people, and local Egyptian communities, (3) cultural diplomacy and social responsibility between Chinese business communities and Egyptian communities, and (4) issues of gender/sexuality that structure these relations.
